KYOWA PATENT AND LAW OFFICE is a comprehensive firm specializing in intellectual property, boasting a history of over 100 years since the founding in 1908. With specialized sections including electrical department, mechanical department, chemical department, trademark department, design department and legal affairs department, KYOWA provides high-quality legal services.

KYOWA is the first firm in Japan that adopted an abstract noun as a law firm name. The name "KYOWA" is derived from the principle that "a firm is not a property of a specific person but should be constructed by cooperation of all the members constituting the firm with a spirit of harmony". Under this principle, about 60 patent attorneys and attorneys at law are working at KYOWA, ranging from highly experienced veteran attorneys to highly motivated young attorneys.

KYOWA is proud of the know-how accumulated through the tradition of over 100 years since the founding as well as having an established system, whereupon an attorney in charge of a case handles prosecution in Japan as well as in foreign countries, consultation therefore, and enforcement of the IP right, liaising closely with attorneys at law, if necessary. Under this system, attorneys are able to acquire extensive experience and knowledge so that they can provide clients with high-quality legal services in a highly consistent way in each case.
